The City of Reading took delivery of a new KME heavy duty combination Rescue truck today. The Rescue features a bumper mounted "Hurst" hydraulic tool, 6 man crew cab, laptop computer system for the Lt, RIT compartment, 4 bottle cascade system, and a rear walk-up for easy access to compartments on the roof. Further equipment placement and qualifications need to take place before the apparatus goes into service. The new truck replaces Rescue 1, a 1992 Mack/Saulsbury Heavy Rescue which will become reserve Rescue 2. The current Rescue 2 will reportedly be sold.
