Nor' Easter At It Again
September 22, 2008
Engine 9 arrived on scene with smoke showing, with the transmission of working fire made second later. A line was stretched, while ladder company members began venting. The fire was placed under control, after being contained to a stove and multiple kitchen cabinets. The rest of the kitchen sustained heavy smoke and heat damage.

3 vehicle MVA

dscf2854.jpgThe scene at an MVA at Lancaster Ave & Hancock Blvd. 1 person was injured and taken to the Reading Hospital Trauma Center.

Medic 602, Engine 14, Rescue 1 & Car 7 responded.

 
Pike Street Basement Fire
September 12, 2008

Several calls were received this morning around 09:00 for a fire in a residence at 915 Pike Street. Box 645 was dispatched at 09:04 for the incident which sent Engines 9, 11, 1, 3 safety, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Unit 605 and Cars 1 and 8 to the scene.

Mini Van through wall in northeast
September 01, 2008

article_1609144.jpgShortly after 1530 a rescue assignment was sent to the 1500 block of Palm Street. Companies found a mini-van driven partially through a rear wall in the south end of the block. No injuries were reported, the Rescue co. used lumber to shore the property. E9, L3, R1, M601

The department will be beginning NFPA 1006 Training For Technical Rescue. The course starts in November and finishes in March.

The Liberty Station Fire Museum Project moves forward with some repairs to the exterior, and a new heating system.

There will be a monetary collection for Allentown Fire Fighter Rick Ensley.  He and his family suffered a total loss of home and possessions due to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. photo from Morning Call
