Body Found In Car
June 22, 2008

With companies busy at Box 515 on Crescent Ave. Engine 5 was tapped out for a vehicle fire in the 500 block of south 14 1/2th street. Crews found a vehicle which had been previously set on fire with a body in the rear seat. Police and the fire marshall are investigating.

Back To Back Jobs For The "B"

"B" platoon companies were stretched thin early Friday morning when 2 fires occurring within  minutes of each other caused multiple 911 calls. Shortly after 0200 hrs, Box 232 was tapped for a flames showing from a garage somewhere in the 500 block of south 16 1/2th street.

Wednesday Wrecks
June 18, 2008

B platoon companies dealt with 2 vehicle accidents Wednesday beginning right after shift change. Engine & Rescue 1, along with Medics 603 & 601 dealt with a 2 car accident at the intersection of 13th and Walnut streets. Crews found moderately damaged vehicles, which required the transport of several victims to the Reading Hospital Trauma Center.

Shortly before 2230 crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Lancaster Ave for another accident. This area had been the scene for another serious accident several months prior which required extrication from a rolled over pickup truck. Engine 14, Rescue 1, Medics 602 & 60 found 4 patients with multiple injuries including one lying along the roadway. Car 7 was command at both wrecks.

Car in the River
June 17, 2008

Engine 11, Ladder 3, Rescue 1 and a Medic Unit were dispatched to the Schuylkill River behind the 200 block of Blair Avenue for a report of a car in the river. The report also stated that someone was lying on the bank of the river. Engine 11 arrived and walked down the trail to the bank of the river but found no victim.

The Scuba team was called out and determined no one was inside. Crews assisted the tow company in removing the car from the river. Police later found the vehicle to be stolen.

 
5th & Chestnut "Confinement"
June 13, 2008

 With the report of entrapment, car 7 made a special request for Ladder 1 for manpower. The Rescue went in service making quick work of the driver's side door. The drivers was removed via backboard and transported to The RHMC Trauma Center.

There will be a monetary collection for Allentown Fire Fighter Rick Ensley.  He and his family suffered a total loss of home and possessions due to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. photo from Morning Call
