161clymer-153.jpgC platoon had their hands busy this afternoon when Box 29 was struck. Around 1153 communications reported a kitchen fire with possible entrapment at 161 Clymer street. 2nd Deputy Chief Sands requested a 2nd alarm at 1158.

Crews found a vehicle partially submerged with 3 occupants. Initially FF's attempted to wade into the area, but changed tactics when the water rose to quickly.

"A" Platoon North East Dryer in Multi-Unit
July 26, 2008

Box 53 was tapped immediately afterwards for 1609 North 9th street. During response reports of several occupants in and outside the building with breathing difficulty.

Man Falls from Railroad Overpass
July 26, 2008

M603 was dispatched early this morning for a cell phone report of a man lying on Neversink street. The caller gave vague info as he was passing through and did not stop. Upon arrival M603 found a male lying along the roadway straight down from a railroad overpass. A trauma alert was transmitted to Reading Hospital, along with a call for help to Engine 1. The patient was packaged and transported. The patients condition was listed as critical. Units were available after 0730.

The department will be beginning NFPA 1006 Training For Technical Rescue. The course starts in November and finishes in March.

Fire Museum Undergoing Repairs

The Liberty Station Fire Museum Project moves forward with some repairs to the exterior, and a new heating system.

Allentown Brother In Need!

There will be a monetary collection for Allentown Fire Fighter Rick Ensley.  He and his family suffered a total loss of home and possessions due to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. photo from Morning Call
