Three homes damaged in fire

so17thst-01.jpgThe fire was reported by a neighbor by who then reportedly assisted an elderly woman from her residence in one of the home in the small row abutting the Neversink Mountains. Several lines were advanced and Car 2 reported heavy smoke and fire on the first floor of the fire building. Fire also extended quickly to the 2nd and 3rd floor of the structure and began moving to the neighboring homes.

Trailer and contents burn

A trailer used for storage on a cement plant lot catches fire and creates a smoke condition that can be seen for miles. Reportedly the trailer is filled with building equipment and tires which added to the heavy smoke and helped consume the unit.

Police Officers Injured in MVA
April 18, 2008
3rd-washington-mva.jpgFour City of Reading Police Officers and one pedestrian are injured when several police cruisers crash in an intersection. The officers were responding to a domestic where a shooting occurred. The injuries to the victims were not reported to be life threatening.

Fire at Food Processing Plant
April 17, 2008
A fire erupted at a food processing plant in the City's 18th Ward around 10:00 hrs this morning. Firefighters took about an hour to contain and overhaul the fire which was fueled by food oil. The cause is being investigated.

3rd Alarm needed for Multiple Structures
April 15, 2008

1022oley-tl-63.jpgA least four structures were damaged during  a third alarm fire this afternoon. Fire in 1022 Oley spread quickly to the exposure and needed numerous handlines to control. Crews on the roof made a trench cut to stop the spread from above.

The were no reports of injuries or number of occupants displaced.

The department will be beginning NFPA 1006 Training For Technical Rescue. The course starts in November and finishes in March.

Fire Museum Undergoing Repairs

The Liberty Station Fire Museum Project moves forward with some repairs to the exterior, and a new heating system.

Allentown Brother In Need!

There will be a monetary collection for Allentown Fire Fighter Rick Ensley.  He and his family suffered a total loss of home and possessions due to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. photo from Morning Call
