 With the report of entrapment, car 7 made a special request for Ladder 1 for manpower. The Rescue went in service making quick work of the driver's side door. The drivers was removed via backboard and transported to The RHMC Trauma Center.

Bedroom Fire
June 11, 2008

At 21:07, Box 521, 10th and Robeson was rung for a dwelling fire reported to be located at 1155 no.10th St. Companies on the box were E9, E11, E1, L-3, R1, Medic 602, E13 safety and Cars 3 and 6.

Ladder 3 arrived and reported a 2 1/2 story MOR dwelling with heavy smoke from the 2nd floor. All occupants were reported to be out of the building.

Engine 9 stretched a line and encountered  fire in a 2nd floor middle room. Companies searched and vented the building and brought the fire under control in about 15 min.

Companies remained on the scene for about an hour overhauling. FM's office is investigating.

 
Hot Wall Leads to Curious Find

Firefighters find a circular burn mark on the back of installed metal shelving inside a city corner store. The incident leads to an interesting discovery.

Thick Plume from Playground Equipment

238cedar-rf-01.jpgFire at a small play area in the 200 block of Cedar Street destroys the equipment there and extends to a dwelling next door. A thick plume of smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.

D platoon on Locust Street
May 29, 2008

With the night shift change approaching, D platoon members were called to action from Box 641. Communications reported multiple calls for 2 properties at 929 & 931 Locust street. Engine 9 had smoke showing from 9th and Windsor after leaving the station, on scene they found a 2 bay garage well involved. 5 vehicles were found burning within the building along with the structure itself. One FF was burned and transported to RHMC. The injuries were not severe. The fire was under control in 30 minutes.

The department will be beginning NFPA 1006 Training For Technical Rescue. The course starts in November and finishes in March.

There will be a monetary collection for Allentown Fire Fighter Rick Ensley.  He and his family suffered a total loss of home and possessions due to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. photo from Morning Call
