2nd Alarm apartment building fire
February 17, 2008

thumb_dscf0250.jpgBox 723 was struck early this morning for the reported structure fire at Pear and Walnut Sts.

Companies arrived to find the second and third floors showing fire from all the windows on the Pear St. side and fire extending by radiated heat to several parked vehicles in the 100 block of Pear Street.

Phantom Box at County Services Building
February 11, 2008
Crews initially made their way through scores of people evacuating the 16 story building. After entry into the lobby, crews found water discharging from sprinkler head inside elevator # 1.

Bedroom fire
February 09, 2008
Engine 13 was first due on box 26 for the 200 block of maple street. Heavy fire on the 2nd floor of the dwelling at 225 Maple was evident upon arrival and firefighters quickly went in service to attack the flames.

Two more calls finish a busy shift
January 28, 2008
In addition to two other calls that kept firefighters busy tonight before midnight, including one which sent Engine 3 and Ladder 1 to assist companies in West Reading, two other incidents in the early morning hours completed an active shift.

Our condolences go out to the family of Retired Firefighter Robert J. Luckenbill, Sr. who passed away on October 5, 2008. "Snorkel Bob" last worked the B Platoon on Snorkel 1, retiring in February of 1992.

Firefighters Remembered

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Fire Administration announce that the 27th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will be held October 4-5, 2008. Flags are to be flown at half staff on Sunday October 5, 2008.
