A City Medic Unit in route to the hospital with a patient was involved in an MVA this afternoon. A call was dispatched at 14:34 to the scene at So. 3rd and Cherry Sts. Engine 3 arrived to find a four vehicle chain reaction in which the Medic Unit was involved.

Reports stated that the Ambulance was stopped behind another vehicle waiting for the light to change when two other vehicles behind collided and pushed the Med. Unit into the first auto. Two persons from the first collision were reportedly injured and were treated by arriving medics. The patient in the involved ambulance was checked and transport was continued. neither of the two paramedics in the city unit reported injuries.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Fire Administration announce that the 27th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will be held October 4-5, 2008. Flags are to be flown at half staff on Sunday October 5, 2008.
