At 1900 hrs, Box 238 was dispatched for the 1800 blk of Hill Road. Responding companies included Engines 13, 1, 3, 9, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Medic 601, Cars 3 and 6 also responded.

Engine 13 rounded the curve into the 1800 blk and observed a large volume of fire extending exteriorly from the 1st floor up through the roof on the rear of a wood frame residence.

Lines were stretched into the garage while a supply line was established. As the Tower crew was laddering the building, one member experienced chest pain and was taken to the hospital. Ladder 1 was special called to the scene to supplement the remaining crew. Multiple lines were put into service. The fire was stopped shortly afterwards, with extensive salvage and overhaul. Car 3 put the fire under control at 19:41.

Companies had their hands full due to the remaining snow and ice from a previous storm. Crews were on scene for approximately 2 hours. Car 3 reported that the fire apparently started in a wood burning fireplace on the 1st floor and spread upward in the chimney. All of the occupants escaped unharmed and there were no other reported injuries. Reports stated the fire caused in excess of $60,000.00 to the property.
