At 11:30 hours this morning, Engines 3, 14 and Car 7 were dispatched to the West Shore by-pass for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 3 reported smoke showing as they were crossing the Penn Street bridge. After making their way through 2 lanes of gridlock, Engine three arrived on the outer loop to find a minivan fully involved along the shoulder. Engine 3's crew started stretching their trash line as Engine 14 arrived on the inner loop and the crew made their way across the Highway to assist Engine 3. The crews quickly had the fire under control and were wrapped up and back to the station in time for lunch at 12:00. City police had the vehicle towed to the impound for further investigation.
