Three trapped as car slams into tree Print E-mail

Around 0800 this morning units were dispatched to the 1100 blk of Walnut Street for a reported motor vehicle accident. Several calls were received by dispatch reporting a car into a tree. Engine 1, Rescue 1, Medic 601 and Car 7 responded.

Apparatus arrived on location and confirmed a vehicle into a tree and victims entrapped. A mother and her two children were in the vehicle which was crumbled against the tree. Additional apparatus were called to assist including two other medic units.

Firefighters cut the roof off the vehicle and removed the victims, they were all taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. Witnesses stated that the vehicle came down the steep hill backwards from North 13th Street in reverse. Police are investigating the incident. Units were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.
