Careers in the Reading Fire Department

Fire Supression and EMS Careers in the Reading Fire Department are through Civil Service testing only.

 Announcements are published in job searches, trade magazines, local newspapers and here on our website.

Applicants must be 18 years of age. There is currently no age limit for applying.

Personnel are members of the International Association of Firefighters.

Getting hired as a firefighter or paramedic is a multi-step process.

CPAT -  ( Candidate Physical Ability Test Preparation Guide 672.38 Kb) + only the number of applicants needed +Paramedic candidate currently does not take this test

Entry level lists are good for three years.

Current Firefighter list is good until 06/13/2008 *new list is being discussed

Paramedic List is exhausted *new list is being discussed
