Shortly before 1000, Phantom Box 1621- 505 N. 10th Street, the Carcella Apartments, was transmitted for a working fire on the 9th Floor of the high-rise building. Dispatch reported getting the AFA with a confirmation from the premises of an actual fire in Apartment 903. E1-E13-E9-E3-L3-T1-L1-R1-M601-M560-Cars 1-5-7-10-22-23-600 responded on the Box with Car 22 reporting smoke pushing from the 9th Floor rear.

High-rise operations were put into effect with the rear being laddered by L1. E1 & E13 crews were met by maintenance in the lobby reporting a kitchen fire knocked down by extinguishers and proceeded to the fire floor where they found a heavy smoke & dry chemical condition in Apartment 903 with the fire contained to the cabinets. Water from the apartments sink & a PW were used to douse the residual flames and the fire was under control within 10 minutes and the apartment was vented mechanically. Crews cleared in 45 minutes after restoring equipment. The Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause but the fire was knocked down by an employee who had fire extinguisher training at the Berks County Fire Training Center.
