A police officer on routine patrol observed smoke in the 300 block of Spring Street this morning. Police dispatch alerted the fire department, and box 75 was transmitted. Engine companies 11, 9, 3, 1 Ladder 3, Rescue 1 & Medic 603 responded. Engine 11 arrived at 336 Spring street, and reported smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story EOR. A line was stretched into the dwelling to the second floor.

With visibility very poor from the dense black smoke, crew had difficulty in locating the fire. Exterior ventilation was accomplished lifting the smoke enough for crew to find a small fire in the bathroom. The plastics burning, although small, gave off a tremendous amount of smoke and heat.

The fire was controlled in 15 minutes, and the home owner advised a plumber was working in the bathroom and had left for more parts. The fire damaged most of the second floor. The FM's office is investigating.

Thanks to Paramedic B. Mack for sending the photos.
