FF Tim Sullivan was the first to answer the door and saw fire coming from the rear of a home across Marion Street.

The occupants of the home, a mother, 1 adult son and 2 toddler sons jumped to the neighbors fire escape to escape the smoke and flames. They were standing out front waiting for firefighters and told reported that no one else was in the home.

Engine 9's crewman made an aggressive attack though the kitchen while ladder 3's crew ventilated threw ladders up in the front and back while humping hose through the door. The rest of the apparatus arrived and additional crews searched the second and third floors and ventilated.

The fire was placed under control at 05:46 after extensive overhaul was done to find hidden fire between 1219 and 1221 N. 9th Street. The Fire Marshal was on the scene and is investigating the cause. The victims were transported to the hospital with reported smoke inhalation. The family dog perished in the blaze.

It was reported that several working smoke detectors alerted the family of the danger and more than likely saved their lives.
