Reading PA Fire Department

Firefighters responded to box 521 for a reported smoke condition at 1124 Mulberry Street this afternoon. Arriving companies reported smoke coming from the basement and advanced a line into the home. Crews encountered a working basement fire which was quickly extinguished.

Investigators reported a fire in a converted heating unit spread to the contents of the basement. Heavy smoke filled the row home and damage was contained to the main fire building. There was no report on occupants effected.
