Around 1900 hours communications began receiving multiple phone calls from an apartment building on the city's north side. Box 53 was tapped immediately afterwards for 1609 North 9th Street. During response reports of several occupants in and outside the building with breathing difficulty. Engine 9 arrived with smoke in the hallways, and located a dryer on fire in the basement of the building. The fire was contained quickly, and the process of venting the property began. EMS evaluated several individuals with no one requiring transport.
