Cardiac event possible in deadly crash Print E-mail

900riverroad002Two people were seriously injured and one was killed in a single vehicle accident in Northwest Reading this morning around 09:30. Units were dispatched to River Road at Schuylkill Ave. and Engine 8 arrived on scene to find a vehicle head on into the Schuylkill Ave. bridge abutment. The vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end entraping all three of the victims. Rescue 1, Car 6 and Medic 603 were also responding. Snorkel 1 and Medic 601 were requested to assist.

The two patients were transported to the Reading Hospital Trauma Center. The coroner was called for the fatality.The driver of the vehicle possibly suffered a major medical event that led to the high-speed accident.
