Living Room Fire Print E-mail

At 19:41 this evening, Box 354 was dispatched for a reported electrical fire at 433 Woodward Street. Units arrived to find a fire on the 1st floor of a multi-unit duplex. Car 6 reported a working fire after seeing a sofa burning inside the living room of the apartment.

Firefighters advanced a line inside the building and quickly knocked down the flames. Smoke filtered throughout the building and a crew searched the upper floors while a fan was set up to clear the smoke.

The fire gutted the living room of the apartment and there was considerable smoke damage throughout the building.

The occupant of the apartment was taken to the hospital for an undisclosed injury and the Red Cross was called to assist. An investigation indicated the fire was accidental in nature. Units cleared the scene within 45 minutes. On the box were Engines 3, 1, 13, 11 safety, Ladder 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Medic 1 and Cars 3 and 6.
