Box 132 was transmitted at 1713 hrs for the 100 block of North 3rd Street. Responding companies from the 3rd & Court station found smoke from the upper floors of 123 North 3rd street. Car 9 arrived shortly after and noticed fire showing through a window from the rear of the building. As members of Ladder 1 began to force the front door of the property, A line was readied from Engine 3. With the door forced the fresh intake of oxygen caused the fire to flare out the 3rd floor windows of the dwelling.
Inside, companies found fire on the 1st floor rear, a small fire on the 2nd, and the bulk of the fire on the 3rd floor of the property. Eventually 3 lines were taken from Engine 3 to cover all floors. With a small lot adjacent to the property, Tower 1 took advantage of easy access to side B. The fire was eventually contained, being placed under control at 1748 with a large amount of overhaul. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
