Box 87 was dispatched at 14:36 for a reported fire at 630 Weiser Street. Numerous calls were again received by dispatch as was the case of a fire earlier in the day.
Engine 3 arrived first on location and reported heavy fire from the 1st floor front. The fire had broke out the front windows and was extending into a covered porch shared with surrounding exposures. While firefighters attempted to gain access a handline was used to hit the exposed fire to try to stop the horizontal spread. Once inside the first floor, the interior fire was quickly knocked down. Fire was primarily confined to the front of the living room but thick black smoke filtered throughout the 3 story residence. Several crews were sent to the 2nd and 3rd floors to ventilate and search for possible victims.
Extension of the fire into the porch roof was extensive and firefighters opened up most of the roof of the fire building and the exposure. The fire was put under control and an investigation began. Car 23, who was still on location at the previous fire, was called to the scene.
The occupants were later reported to be out of the building but were on location. It was unclear if they were inside the residence when the fire started. Red Cross was called to the scene to care for the 2 adults and 4 children who lived in the home. Apparatus on the scene were Engines 3, 1, 9 and 5 safety, Lad. 1, Twr. 1, Res. 1, Medic 603 and Cars 3 and 6, units were on the scene for just over an hour.
