Phone Box 134 was dispatched at 10:23 this morning for 700 blk of Laurel Street. Apparatus responding were Engines 3, 13, 14, 11 safety, Tower 1, Snorkel 1, Rescue 1, Medic 601, Unit 606, Cars 1, 7, 10, 23. Car 1 reported on the approach that he had smoke showing from So. 8th Street. Car 7 arrived on location and reported a 2 and 1/2 story with fire showing from the 3rd floor dormer, Engine 13 arrived soon after and assumed first due apparatus.
An 1 3/4 handline was pulled and advanced into the building. Car 1 arrived and assumed command, he confirmed fire showing third floor and soon after reported that fire was now showing from the second floor front and the correct address was 751 Laurel. Car 7, interior command, reported separate fires on the second and third floors. An additional line was advanced into the building. Firefighters moved through the structure and extinguished all the visible fire. Additional crews were sent to check the exposures. Engine 13 crew reported fire on the third floor blackened down at 10:35. Car 7 noted the amount of debris in the building as crews began to overhaul. The fire was put under control by command at 10:38. Command released the safety company which was immediately sent to investigate an MVA at No 3rd and Washington, 606 also responded to the accident?.
The owner of the fire building and the attached exposures was on location and was interviewed by the Fire Marshal. The fire was reported to be suspicious in nature but an investigation is continuing. There were no reported injuries.
