Busy Saturday Night For Members Of "B" Platoon Print E-mail

At 2130 hours BOX 81 was transmitted for 106 Oley Street, reporting a fire on back porch roof. Engine Co.'s 11, 3, 8(9), Ladder / Tower / Rescue 1 , Medics 1&3 Along with Engine 1 for RIT. Companies found a section of roof gutter which had made contact with the house electrical service starting a fire in the rear if the residence. Companies were on scene for over an hour with a large amt of overhaul.

Engine 11 leaving the scene of a medical alarm was advised to head for the 700 block of North 5th street for an MVA with possible ejection. dispatchers transmitted the rescue assignment, with Police requesing all units to expidite. E11 arrived and confirmed a female had been struck by a fast moving vehicle and required immediate transport to the Trauma Center. The rescue and engine assisted in transport and clean-up.

During the Pedestrian accident, Engine 1 and Ladder 3 were dispatched to 10th and Penn Streets to investigate an additional MVA with injuries. Engine 1 reported a DUI MVA with one in custody and another individual with minor injuries.

Around midnight another Box was transmitted for 9th and Washington streets, bringing Engine Co's 1, 13, 3, Tower / Ladder / Rescue 1 and Engine 5 for RIT. Car 7 was advised of a possible chimney fire. The fire was handled quickly, the box was held to a 1/1/1.

Around 0300 hours, Engine 3 and Tower 1 were sent to 532 Court street to investigate a fire alarm at a newly renovated lawyers office. With no knox-box or other access into the building crews awaited a responder. Upon entry, companies encountered a light smoke condition, prompting the fill-out of BOX 312. The alarm brought Engine CO's 1, 13, Rescue / Ladder 1, Medic 3 and Engine 5 as RIT. Crew found a gas-fed heater had been running for at least 2 days and had heated the newly laid floor enough to cause combustion. Many of the new thick floor joists had been charred badly. Companies were on scene till 0600 hours with great overhaul.

During box, the communications center advised car 7 of a smoke condition for the 100 block of north 8th street. With no Ladder companies available (L3 on AFA ICI paints) C7 advised to send only one engine company. Medic 1 returning from SJMC advised they were close, and would investigate requested the BOX be transmitted, due to a large volume of smoke coming from a 3 story masonry building. With many companies tied up on court street, BOX 427 was transmitted summoning Engine Co 14, and Ladder 3 to join engine 8(9). Companies quickly released to assist were Engine's 1 and 5 and Ladder 1. Companies forced entry to find a severe oil burner malfunction in a large 3 story occupied at one time by a dentist. After extensive ventilation, crews left the scene @ 0624 hours
