While "B" Platoon members were finishing the last of lunch, Box 62 was transmitted for 545 Cedar Street. A report of smoke showing from a 2nd floor window sent Engine Co's 8(9), 1, 13, Ladder 3, Tower & Rescue 1, Medic 3, and Engine 11 RIT.

Engine 1 assumed first due with a report of nothing showing. Engine 1 crewman Marks entered the dwelling encountering smoke banked down on the second floor. A line was stretched immediately, and the fire was quickly controlled. A mattress in a front bedroom had apparently burned unchecked for several minutes sending a great deal of heat enough to melt all of the second floor window coverings and some windows. First due companies were in scene for approximately an hour. FM 10 investigated.
