Just before 1400 Box 51 was transmitted for the 800 Block of Church Street for an attic fire. Dispatch reported getting a call from a firefighter who stated smoke coming from the roof area of 811 & 809 Church Street. Car 6 arrived in the smoke filled block to find heavy smoke coming from a third floor window of 811 and reported a working fire, flames were also venting from the 3rd floor rear.

An 1 3/4 was stretched from E-11 and the 3rd floor room and contents was stopped in the room of origin with some extension to the eaves in the rear. E11-E9-E3-L3-R1-M601-E1 Safety-Cars 6 & 3 were summoned on the Box. Car 3 reported a probably cause of smoking materials left unattended and crews cleared within an hour. The Red Cross was called to assist the 5 adults living at the residence.

Firefighters Remembered

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Fire Administration announce that the 27th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will be held October 4-5, 2008. Flags are to be flown at half staff on Sunday October 5, 2008.
