Firefighters are called out again for a suspicious fire near the scene of last night's 2nd alarm. 911 reports flames visible from their location and multiple calls received

larsonsplyFor the second night in a row firefighters were sent out to a working fire in the City. Box 56 came in around 20:45 and sent units to the 400 blk of No. 4th Street, only a block from last nights 2nd alarm fire. Engines 11, 3, 1, 13 safety, Ladder 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Medic 601 and Cars 2 and 9 responded to the Larson Supply company at 450 no 4th for a reported working fire. Dispatch already reported that they received multiple calls and could see flames from their vantage point in the communications center.

Car 9 arrived on the scene and reported a heavy smoke condition coming from the rear of the building. Upon further investigation he noted that fire involved a large debris pile close to the rear of the structure. Firefighters advanced a hose line on the fire, other lines were placed in service to extinguish smaller fires that were discovered on the property. Additional crews began to open up the building and Ladder 1 laddered the roof and prepared to ventilate. Dispatch then reported they were getting the fire alarm for the business from the alarm company.

Firefighter entered the building and encountered medium smoke. They moved through to the rear and opened up to ventilate the interior. No visible fire was discovered inside the building. The fire was placed under control at 21:03. The pile of debris included tires and bags of trash that continued to smolder. After the flames were blackened down, firefighters switched to foam to be sure that the fire was extinguished. They overhauled the pile and secured the property. The scene was cleared at 21:56. Car 23 responded and along with police began an investigation.
