Suspicious Garage Fire Print E-mail

Firefighters responded to another suspicious fire this morning. The fire is being investigated however officials do not believe this one is related to the others that have occurred recently. Engines 8, 3, 1, 5 safety, Snorkel 1, Rescue 1 and Cars 4 and 9 responded to box 51 at 11:18 this morning for a reported garage fire in the 800 block of No. 6th Street. Dispatch received additional calls that reported the rear of 852 No. 6th Street.

Car 4 arrived and reported 2 garages, one heavily involved. Engine 8 crew advanced a handline after opening the overhead door. Contents of the garage were minimal but fire got into the roof. After opening up the exposure firefighters found only minor extension and heavy smoke. The fire was knocked down in about 5 minutes. Car 4 put the incident under control at 11:33.
