At 09:26 am Engine 11 and Car 7 were dispatched for a reported grass fire at 1120 Centre Avenue, to the rear of the Sterling Mansion, Reading's premiere Bed & Breakfast. Engine 11 arrived to find the entire area covered in a heavy smoke condition and flames showing in a patch of woods to the rear of the mansion. The motor of the facility's in ground pool, a 35 foot long pile of firewood, and 75x25 area of brush was heavily involved in fire on a 25 degree day with 25 mph winds.

Engine 11 went into service as Car 7 called for Engine 8(E9) and Brush 2 to respond as access to the fire was a problem. The fire was contained quickly by Engine 11 from Centre Ave., Engine 8 from Front St, and Brush 2 from inside the property. Detergent foam was used to douse the deep seeded fire in the woodpile. FM10 was called to the scene to investigate and crews cleared within the hour.
