Fire Safety Night

Fire Safety Night at the Reading Phillies

The Fire Safety Night at the Reading Phillies Baseball Game is scheduled for Saturday, July 23, 2005. Game time is 7:05 PM. The Phillies vs. The Erie Seawolves. (The “C” Platoon is working nights).

Screwball Arriving on 'Lil' Engine 3Please be aware that some things have changed regarding this year’s event. In previous years, the RFD Fire Prevention Division was able to sponsor this very important event. Unfortunately, that sponsorship is no longer possible. However, this year’s event will proceed under the sponsorship of Berks Fire & Water Restorations.

The following is a breakdown of information and activities for the event:

  • The RFD has received a batch of complimentary tickets. Please contact Michele or Bonnie in the office as soon as possible for your tickets.
  • The Reading Fire Fighters/Paramedics/EMS Personnel/Retirees will be honored with a pre-game introduction on the field.
  • The great tradition of drums and pipes started by the original FM-10 David Janiszewski will continue. The Philadelphia Police and Fire Drum/Bagpipe Band will be playing at the event, courtesy of the RFD.
  • RFD Fire fighter Sean Hart will grace all attendance with his singing of “God Bless America”.
  • The RFD/Local 1803 Honor Guard will again proudly provide the colors.
  • RFD Fire fighter Mike Shoumlisky will again escort “Screwball” around the playing field via Mini-E-3.
  • RFD Fire Prevention literature and materials will be provided.
  • RFD Mascot “Sparky” will again be present.
  • RFD Ladder-3 will be set up in the stadium parking lot.
  • There will be post-game fireworks and a post-game concert by the Reading Phillies Mascot Band.

NOTE:

Philadelphia Police and Fire Drum/Bagpipe BandBased on the schedule of events created by the Reading Phillies and Berks Fire & Water Restorations, certain ideas/activities have yet to be decided upon, such as:

  • Between inning games on the field
  • Use of the Fire Prevention message videos taped last year for this event.
  • Creating a “Thank You” message from the RFD to the Berks Fire & Water Restorations and the Reading Phillies.

(Information on the above will be provided as soon as possible).

The RFD must present a list of all RFD Personnel for field introductions to Berks Fire & Water Restorations and the Reading Phillies (field introductions are for RFD personnel only).

Please register with Michele or Bonnie for your tickets and field introduction by Friday, July 15, 2005.
