Inconvenience at Convenience Store PDF E-mail

Smoke began to fill the Cit-go gas mart at the corner of Lancaster Ave & Kenhorst Blvd this afternoon. The condition prompted the response of Box 164. First arriving Engine #14 found smoke throughout the store and reported they may have an electrical issue. Crew were deployed in the building and onto the roof via Ladder 1. An electrician was notified by the manager, and worked with the companies to determine the source of the problem. Companies cleared the scene while the electrician sorted out the problem.

2nd Floor On Church PDF E-mail

Box 51 was tapped around 1500 hrs for the 800 block of Church Street. Communications reported one phone call received for smoke and fire on the second floor of the dwelling. Companies investigated, and found smoke banked down on the second floor and located a small fire in a bedroom. The fire was possibly caused by clothing and an overheated electrical outlet. Crews extinguished the fire and vented to property in about 30 minutes.

Extensive operation needed for body removal PDF E-mail

A medic unit orders an obese patient transported which leads to an extensive operation to extricate the patient from his home. Plans set up during previous transports of the same patient help firefighters set-up.

Three homes damaged in fire PDF E-mail

so17thst-01.jpgThe fire was reported by a neighbor by who then reportedly assisted an elderly woman from her residence in one of the home in the small row abutting the Neversink Mountains. Several lines were advanced and Car 2 reported heavy smoke and fire on the first floor of the fire building. Fire also extended quickly to the 2nd and 3rd floor of the structure and began moving to the neighboring homes.

Trailer and contents burn PDF E-mail

A trailer used for storage on a cement plant lot catches fire and creates a smoke condition that can be seen for miles. Reportedly the trailer is filled with building equipment and tires which added to the heavy smoke and helped consume the unit.

Police Officers Injured in MVA PDF E-mail

3rd-washington-mva.jpgFour City of Reading Police Officers and one pedestrian are injured when several police cruisers crash in an intersection. The officers were responding to a domestic where a shooting occurred. The injuries to the victims were not reported to be life threatening.

Fire at Food Processing Plant PDF E-mail

A fire erupted at a food processing plant in the City's 18th Ward around 10:00 hrs this morning. Firefighters took about an hour to contain and overhaul the fire which was fueled by food oil. The cause is being investigated.
