A unattended candle is listed as the cause of an early morning fire in the NorthEast section of the city. Box 627 came in at 07:38 this morning for a reported structure fire in the 1300 blk of No 12th Street.

6th-woodward-vehicle-02.jpgEngine 3 responded to a reported vehicle fire in an alley off North 6th and Woodward Streets at 23:51 tonight.

Upon arrival firefighters found a sedan fully involved and went into service with the trash line.

It took the crew about 40 minutes to extinguished the fire and overhaul. The fire was suspicious in nature.

With numerous companies on the street for calls, box 724 was transmitted at 20:15 for a dwelling fire at 737 Gordon street. Engine 11 on a med run in the 400 block of W.Oley street was released by the Medic unit and arrived a minute later reporting heavy smoke showing 1st floor of a 2 story occupied MOR dwelling.

E3-E9-L1-S1(T1)-R1-M657-E5 Safety and Cars 2 & 9 were assigned to the Box.

A subsequent report stated fire showing from the basement door with a 1 and 3/4 inch line stretched. Fire involving the front of the basement was quickly knocked down and the dwelling searched and ventilated. Units reported zero visibility in the fire building and exposures B and D heavily charged with smoke.

It was reported the fire started in the area of the clothes dryer. Crews cleared within the hour and no injuries were reported. All city apparatus were on the street during the fire on numerous medical calls and a gas condition.

(First job for new E-11, having been put in service earlier in the day).

A fire at the Nabor-Hood laundromat caused more than $20,000 in damage and displaced one resident according to fire officials. Fire originated in one of the dryers and quickly spread through a portion of the roof.

Police indicated that a female victim of an early morning motor vehicle accident was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control and crashed. The vehicle rolled onto it's side and was wedged between two other vehicles parked at the curb. The extrication was one of the first firefighters worked from the new Rescue truck purchased recently. The rescue's front "brow lights" and bumper mounted extrication tools quickly proved their worth as crews worked to free the victim. The vehicle was stabilized with another recent addition to the tool box, the 'Junkyard Dog' rescue strut.

thumb_dscf0250.jpgBox 723 was struck early this morning for the reported structure fire at Pear and Walnut Sts.

Companies arrived to find the second and third floors showing fire from all the windows on the Pear St. side and fire extending by radiated heat to several parked vehicles in the 100 block of Pear Street.
