A regulator failed and caused an underground transformer to burn in a vault below the sidewalk outside a four story commercial building with apartments. Firefighters apply foam to the appliance after the electric in cut.

An oil truck carrying home heating oil overturns on Lancaster Avenue around 12:30 this afternoon. Oil spilling from the truck get into the catch basin and the nearby Schuylkill River. Several agencies respond.

Arriving apparatus report fire blowing out the 2nd floor front of a home in the 1300 block Cotton Street. The fire extended to two other dwellings before being put under control. Reportedly, the occupant had just moved into the home the day prior.

Engine 1 arrived and began an alley lay into the tight block. Eventually a second 2 1/2" alley line was stretched to back up the first. Initial attack was delayed due to flames burning dangerously close to a set of power lines.

The Red Cross was called to assist victims displaced by a fire in 300 block of Heckmans Court this evening. Box 45 was struck around 17:30 for the fire. Companies arriving found fire blowing out the first floor rear of one of the two dwellings in the tiny block to the rear of Mulberry Street.
Crews made quick work of extinguishing the fire that extended to the 2nd floor and slightly damaged the exposure. Car 23 was on location and investigating. The fire appeared to originate in the kitchen area. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for an injury.

When placed into the MICU medics discovered there was a single GSW to
the lower torso with an exit wound. Both medics and a FF from ladder 1
worked to stabilize the patient for transport over to Reading Hospital
Trauma Center.
