One person was treated by paramedics after a fire that involved a kitchen in a NorthEast Home. Firefighters had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

Just after 02:00 this morning, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Car 3 were dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Speckled Hen Restaurant at 30 So. 4th Street. Arriving on location, Engine 3 noted police activity in the block and then reported a car into the front of the restaurant.

Companies encountered a heavy volume of fire on the second floor with extension into the 3rd floor. A second line was stretched while the ladder company headed for the roof. Command asked for a 2nd ladder company to assist in roof operations.

Upon arrival a 2 1/2" was stretched into a rear alley behind 13's previous station. A small garage to the rear of 221 south 10th street was found to be fully involved directly across from a 2 story warehouse.

victims were removed from the car in approx 20 minutes. 1 individual
was in serious condition and sent to the Reading Hospital Trauma Center.

C platoon had their hands busy this afternoon when Box 29 was struck. Around 1153 communications reported a kitchen fire with possible entrapment at 161 Clymer street. 2nd Deputy Chief Sands requested a 2nd alarm at 1158.
