At 01:35, box 78 was struck for the 400 block of Miltimore Street for a report of smoke from a building. Engine 3 arrived within 3 minutes and reported heavy fire from the rear of 422 and 424 Miltimore, both buildings were vacant and boarded up. Ladder 1?s crew quickly forced their way into both buildings and it was determined 422 could not be entered due to the buildings condition from previous fires.

Master streams were setup in the front and rear of 422 while crews stretched hand lines into 424. Firefighters made quick work of the fire and breached the wall between the buildings to extinguish the areas the master streams couldn't hit. Both buildings required extensive overhaul and with the arctic temperatures, the firefighters, equipment, and apparatus were all covered in ice.

Engines 9, 13, and 14 were dispatched to the scene so crews could switch apparatus and go back to their stations and retrieve spare gear and dry clothing. No injuries were reported and the scene was wrapped up and crews were cleared by 04:11. The Fire Marshals office is investigating. Apparatus on the box were Engines 3, 11, 1, 5(safety company), Ladder 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Medic 602 and Cars 5 and 7.
