Phone Box 427 was transmitted for the 100 blk of n.8th Sreet by Medic 602 while on the way to a med call. The medic unit reported heavy smoke from the front of a 2 1/2 story middle of the row dwelling. Assigned to the box was E-1, 13, 9, Trw-1, L-1, R-1, E-11 Safety, Car 2 and Car 8. Crews encountered heavy fire on the 1st floor with extension to exposure D in the rear.
Car 2 transmitted the 2nd alarm due to heavy fire extending to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the dwelling and to the 1st floor of exposure D. Companys on the 2nd E-3,E-5 ,L-3 car 1. After quick work by the interior crews and extended overhaul by the truck company's, the fire was bought under control with no injuries to report.
Red Cross was called to the scene to assist three adults and two children residing in the residence.
