At 0937 hours communications dispatched Box 19 for a working fire in rear of the Naber-Hood Laundromat at 8th & Chestnut streets. Car 3 reported a smoke charged first floor, with fire showing from the roof and ductwork at the rear of the building.

Engine 13 stretched into the 1st floor of the building with help of the rescue company. The nozzle team encountered fire from one of the dryer units with extension into the ceiling. Crews also forced entry in the second floor apartment for search and extension. The stubborn fire took an hour to control, as the dryer system had multiple ducts which had to be removed. Many of the ducts still contained burning material.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an excessive lint build up.

Companies On The Box:

Engines - 13, 3, 9, 14, *5*

Ladders - Tower, Ladder 1

Rescue, M601

Car's 1, 3, 10, 24
