819walnut01While on the street, Tower 1 personel were notifed of smoke from a building in the 800 block of Walnut Street. During the response, a box alarm assignment was dispatched consisting of Engine Co.'s 1,13,3,9 Tower 1, Ladder 1, Rescue, and Medic 602. Engine 1 arrived with smoke pushing from the 2nd floor windows and eves of 819 Walnut Street.

Members from 1 & 13 began a stretch while Tower 1 initiated aerial operations for ventilation of the front of the building. Engine 1 crewman Pat Kozak found a female occupant within the front hallway of the dwelling, and with the assistance of Bill Milyo, immediately removed her to awaiting paramedics. The pt was transfered to litter and set to RHMC trauma center.

Fire was located in the rear of the dwelling in the kitchen area, which had been burning for some time as the door to the fridge had burned completely off. The fire was controlled in minutes, and the pt was successfully revived while enroute to RHMC.
