Firefighters responded to a fire late Thursday morning that has since been ruled suspicious. Box 47 was dispatched just after 10:30 and Engine 8, arriving first due, reported smoke showing. Crews stretched a line to the third floor of a vacant in the 500 block of No 11th Street and extinguished several small fires burning in the attic. The Fire Marshal's office was called to investigate.
Apparatus on the Box were Engines 8, 3, 11, 5 safety, Snorkel 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Medic 3 and Cars 1, 6 and 22. Car 24 responded later in the incident to investigate.

As members of Ladder 1 began to force the front door of the
property, A line was readied from Engine 3. With the door forced the
fresh intake of oxygen caused the fire to flare out the 3rd floor

Upon entry crews found fire on the 1st floor and the basement. A second
line was stretched immediatley to handle the fire on the 1st & 2nd
floors. Eventually, a 3rd line was stretched due to fire travel

Car 6 had the Rescue company go into service, carefully working around the downed power lines. Using a combination of the Spreaders and RAMs, the A-post and rocker panel were displaced and a dash roll was performed to remove the driver. The driver was freed approximately 30 minutes later.
