After months of legal battles and property issues, work on a new fire station has begun. City workers had been removing mechanicals from the current structure on the property for several weeks. A hydraulic lift that once serviced vehicles in the one time garage and auto sales businesses needed to be dismantled before the building could be demolished.
During the first week of October, Empire wrecking company began the demolition work for the new SouthWest Station. The station will place two south side companies in the same building after operating out of their own "company" owned stations. We hope to follow the building process closely.
