Emotions
were mixed as riders gathered in the parking lot of
the Reading Area Community College for the 1st Annual "Ride
for Wise".
Today being the 1st anniversary of the slain Officer's
death, fellow Officers and friends are saddened as they
think back on the yet recent tragedy. They are comforted,
however, by the happiness of being able to get together
to remember him in this way.
The ride took the group of
more than 300 West on Route 422 to the town of Annville and
past the Officer's grave. The riders then moved to the Police
Station where a Memorial Service was held.
The organizer of the event,
Officer Bruce Monteiro, said he came up with the idea for
the ride soon after the funeral last year. Having been on
numerous memorial rides, he knew it was the perfect way to
honor Wise.
