While most of B platoon was in transition from the annual United-Way presentation, Box 28 was transmitted after a roving patrol car discovered smoke in the 300 block of Spring Garden Street. Initial dispatch information reported a small child was not accounted for.

Early this morning communications dispatched a 1 & 1 to investigate a possible malicious phone call in the area of 8th and Muhlenberg streets. Seconds later, dispatcher Wertz dropped Box 28 for multiple calls received for a building at 341 south 8th street.

Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Car 6 responded to an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Bakery Apartments, 120 So. 3rd Street at 13:18 this afternoon. Upon arrival, Car 6 was met at the door by a resident who reported a water condition caused by the sprinkler system on the third floor.

Box 63 was tapped this afternoon for a reported garage fire in the area of 10th & Douglass. First-due Engine 9 reported heavy smoke on the approach. Companies found a 1 story MOR garage, with heavy fire showing threatening multiple exposures.

At approximately 2345 hrs, E-11, R-1, M-2 and C-6 were dispatched to Schuylkill Ave and Lehigh Street for an MVA with injuries. West Reading PD came across the accident and were reporting at least one class 5.

At 19:41 this evening, Box 354 was dispatched for a reported electrical fire at 433 Woodward Street. Units arrived to find a fire on the 1st floor of a multi-unit duplex. Car 6 reported a working fire after seeing a sofa burning inside the living room of the apartment.

0543 hrs, A fire alarm was dispatched for the Book Bindery Apartment complex at 150 North 4th Street. During the response 1st Deputy Chief Squibb was advised by communications that other calls were being recieved for smoke on 2 floors.

Box 544 was dispatched shortly before 05:00 this morning for a fire in the 2000 block of Kutztown Road after dispatchers received several calls about a porch on fire. Firefighters arrived on location and found furnishings burning on the front porch of 2026 Kutztown Road.

A platoon companies were called into action early Friday morning when box 25 was tapped at 0459. First arriving Engine 8(13) found fire venting from the first floor of 154 south 12th street. A line was stretched into the multiple dwelling to protect the stairs and attack the fire.

Several calls were received this morning around 09:00 for a fire in a residence at 915 Pike Street. Box 645 was dispatched at 09:04 for the incident which sent Engines 9, 11, 1, 3 safety, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Unit 605 and Cars 1 and 8 to the scene.

Just after 02:00 this morning, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Car 3 were dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Speckled Hen Restaurant at 30 So. 4th Street. Arriving on location, Engine 3 noted police activity in the block and then reported a car into the front of the restaurant.

Box 24 was tapped right after 8 this evening for a garage fire in the rear of the 200 block of south 10th street. Engine 13 observed smoke in the sky shortly after leaving their new quarters in center city.
