11:05 Hours/ 407 Elm Street/ Box 301/ A Platoon

The box was transmitted for reports of black smoke coming from a residence. Ladder 1 arrived on scene with smoke showing, reported 2 people were trapped on the 3rd floor, and requested a second medic truck be dispatched. Crews found heavy fire in the kitchen area extending to the second floor. Ladder 1 reported to command their main aerial stopped working and they would be using ground ladders to ladder the 3rd floor. Engine 3 stretched a line through the front door and started knocking the fire down. While searches were underway, Car 23 reported 1 male on the roof in the rear, with no access down. Tower 1 crewman cleared the 3rd floor and reported both individuals made it onto the rear roof. Engine 5 crewman assisted occupants off the roof to safety via a ground ladder. Members also rescued a cat, dog, and a bird from the fire building. The fire was placed under control with overhaul at 11:24 hours. The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
