Congratulations to Firefighter Mark Ammon on more than 25 years of service to the City of Reading. Mark was hired on February 1st of 1993. After completing the academy he was assigned as a jumper firefighter on the "C" platoon.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Matthew Small on his new position with Reading Hospital. Matt will be overseeing the Reading Hospital's Paramedic Program as the Paramedic Education Coordinator. Small was hired in January of 2001 for the creation of the Reading Fire Department ambulance service.

Reading Firefighters took to the river for the month of July completing the final skills for a PA State Water Rescue Operations course. All personnel will be better trained to respond to emergencies involving the river or flooded areas of the city.
