The Reading Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Chief Charles "Swifty" Schaeffer. Swifty served as the Chief of the Department from 1983 to 1993. Chief Schaeffer's service to the city began when he joined the Reading Hose Fire Company.

A big welcome back to Michele Kline as she returns to the Fire Department to serve as the Administrative Officer. Michele had transferred to the Reading Police Department in August of 2017 after working in the Fire Chief's Office for 24 years.
