Congratulations to 1st Deputy Chief Nicholas Amicone on 36 years of service to the Reading Fire Department. Chief Amicone was hired on May 23rd of 1977. After training, firefighter Amicone was a jumper firefighter assigned to the "D" platoon.

The Reading Fire Department recently took delivery of two 2013 Ford/TraumaHawk Ambulances. The Department is planning an expansion of their EMS service in approximately 6 months when the probationary firefighters are released from the academy.

Reading Firefighter Jeff LeCompte along with Bethlehem Firefighter Bob Simons completed the Saint Lukes half-marathon in Allentown. The firefighters have run the marathon several times before wearing firefighters protective clothing for the last 8 years.

We regret to announce the passing of Retired Firefighter David Brendel Firefighter Brendel was hired as a driver on January 1st, 1968 and assigned to the A platoon. In September of 1977, the city created a 4th platoon, and Brendel took assignment as the driver of Ladder 2.
