It is with great sadness and regret we report the passing of Firefighter Mark "Dewey" Kulp. Dewey was hospitalized after contracting Covid-19 on the job, and after multiple days in the hospital he succumbed to complications from the disease. Mark joined with explorer post #290 in 1982 and in 1986 started his volunteer firefighting career with Liberty Fire Company #5 of Reading, PA. During his time at Engine 5, Mark also served as a tender for the Reading Fire Department Scuba Team. Dewey worked his way up into the ranks where he spent 5 years as first a Lieutenant and then the Captain on Engine 5. On February 1st, 1993, Mark was hired by the city as a career fireman and was assigned a jumper spot on the A platoon. In August of 1994 he moved to Engine 13 where he stayed on the A platoon and worked there for over a year. On October 15, 1995, Mark bid as the A platoon Tillerman on Ladder 3 where he worked on the Truck until bidding to his final spot as Engine 7 crewman on the C platoon in December of 2001.

A celebration of life will be held at Auman Funeral Home in Reading. Calling hours will be from 1100 to 1300 before the service officially begins at 1300 hours.
